How do I Message My Contacts?

Contacts and groups are built into DartPro's messaging. Send to a handful of people, broadcast to whole groups, or personalize each message with contact details.

Greet each contact by nameA template sent to groups

Message Selected Contacts

  1. Click Contacts in the left sidebar, or open a group from Groups.
  2. Tick the box beside each person.
  3. Click Message.

Compose SMS opens with their mobile numbers in the recipient list. Write your message, choose a sender ID, and send.

Add Group Members in Compose SMS

In Compose SMS, you can type numbers or names in Type phone number or name and press Enter. To bring in group members:

  1. Click Add Group Contacts.
  2. In Select Group, click a group. Use Search groups... to find it.
  3. Choose who to add:
    • Tick contacts, or Select All, and click Add Selected.
    • Or click Add Everyone to add the whole group.

Their numbers join the recipient list. Click Clear to empty it.

💡 Note

Compose SMS takes up to 2,000 recipients. For bigger audiences, broadcast to the group instead. Numbers are copied into the message when you add them, so later changes to the group don't affect it.

Broadcast to Groups

  1. Pick the Groups

    • Click Groups in the left sidebar, select one or more groups, and click Message Groups (the send icon).
    • The Compose Message page opens with those groups in Select Groups. You can add or remove groups there.
  2. Write the Message

    • Under Message Type, keep Type Message and write in Message Content.
    • Or switch to Use Template and choose a template in Select Template. The Template Preview shows its text.
  3. Choose a Sender ID

    • Pick one of your registered sender IDs in Sender ID.
  4. Send Now or Later

    • Keep Send Immediately, or switch to Schedule for Later and set the Broadcast Time.
  5. Send

    • Check the cost estimate, then click Send Message, or Schedule Message for a scheduled send.

Who Receives a Group Message

  • Every member with a mobile number. Contacts with only an email are skipped.
  • Each number once. Someone in two of the selected groups gets one message.
  • Members at send time. A scheduled message goes to whoever is in the groups when it's sent.

⚠️ Keep group names stable before scheduled sends

Scheduled messages find their groups by name. If you rename or delete a group before the send time, its members won't get the message.

What It Costs

The cost card estimates the price for the groups you selected. Group messages are charged when you click Send Message or Schedule Message, so make sure your balance covers the whole audience. See Recharging Your Account.

Personalize Messages with Contact Details

A template can include placeholders that DartPro fills in for each contact when you send it to groups.

  1. Create a Template

    • Click Templates in the left sidebar and create a template. Write placeholders in square brackets, with no spaces inside, for example Hello [first_name], your order from [organization] is ready.
  2. Send It to Groups

    • On Compose Message, set Message Type to Use Template, pick the template in Select Template, and send as usual.

Each contact gets their own version, such as Hello Ada, your order from Acme Ltd is ready.

PlaceholderReplaced with
[title]Title
[first_name]First Name
[other_names]Other Names
[family_name]Family Name
[phone]Mobile number
[email]Email
[organization]Organization

💡 Fill in the details your template uses

If a contact has no value for a placeholder, it's left blank, so Hello [first_name], becomes Hello ,. Make sure the contacts in your group have the details your template uses.

  • Personalized sends take longer, because each contact gets a separate message.
  • Only templates sent to groups are personalized. Text you type in Message Content is sent exactly as written.

Before You Send

  • Verify your email and complete your billing information. The send button stays disabled until both are done.
  • Promotional messages may be scheduled to go out after the Do-Not-Disturb window.
  • Some sender IDs need review. You'll see Message Submitted instead of Message Sent while the message is reviewed.

After Sending

Track delivery in Campaigns and Message Logs in the left sidebar.
