How do I Set a Poster and Banners?
Several images represent your channel and its shows. Each one is set in a different place and used for a different job.
Which Image Goes Where
| Image | Set on | Size | Where it appears |
|---|---|---|---|
| Channel icon | Profile | 512 × 512 px, up to 2 MB | Beside your channel's name on the watch page |
| Channel poster | Profile | 1920 × 1080 px, up to 5 MB | Your channel's card on My Channels; the watch page, if you have no icon; on air while broadcasting is off or there's nothing else to play |
| Show banner | Live Stream | 16:9, up to 5 MB | The Channel API, as the picture for your live broadcast; the thumbnail of live recordings |
| Program banner | Programs | Your channel's banner format | Program cards; the On Air card on Live Stream; the Channel API during episodes; thumbnails of recordings made during episodes |
| Episode banner | Programs, on the episode | Your channel's banner format | In place of the program banner, for that episode |
Channel Icon and Poster
- In the channel menu, click Profile.
- Under Channel Icon or Channel Poster (Banner), click Upload or Library.
- Click Save Changes.
💡 Use exactly 1920 × 1080 pixels for the poster
The poster is only shown on air if it's exactly 1920 × 1080 pixels. Otherwise viewers see colour bars when there's nothing else to play.
See How do I Edit My Channel Profile?.
Show Banner
The show banner is the picture for your live broadcasts.
- In the channel menu, click Live Stream.
- Under Show Banner, click the banner area to upload an image, or click Select from Media Library. It saves straight away.
- To remove it, click Clear Banner.
The same image appears in Settings as Live Stream Poster, where Clear Poster removes it. With no banner set, that card offers Set Poster in Live Stream.
- In the Channel API: it's the thumbnail for your live broadcast.
- In recordings: a recording of a live broadcast uses it as its thumbnail, unless an episode or program banner applies.
- During an episode: the episode's or program's banner is used instead. Show Banner says Overridden right now by the on-air episode's banner.
See Add a Show Banner.
Program and Episode Banners
- Program banner: add it on the program's Setup tab. See Add a Program Banner.
- Episode banner: add it when you schedule or edit the episode. Without one, the episode uses the program's banner.
- One shape for the whole channel: the first banner you upload sets the channel's Banner format, such as Widescreen (16:9, 1920 × 1080). Every later program and episode banner is cropped to that shape.
Which Banner Is Used
When a program episode is on air, or a recording is made during one, Cecula Stream uses the first of these that's set:
- The episode banner
- The program banner
- The show banner
