How do I Use Time Belts?
Time belts play a chosen rotation playlist at set times on the days you choose, which broadcasters call dayparting. For example, a morning playlist from 06:00 to 10:00 on weekdays, and a late-night playlist from 22:00 to 05:00.
How Time Belts Work
- What a belt is: a playlist, a start time, an end time, the days it runs and a priority.
- While a belt is active: the channel plays its playlist whenever there's no live feed, scheduled broadcast or program episode.
- When no belt is active: the channel plays the default playlist.
- At a belt's start and end: the channel switches playlist immediately, even part-way through a video.
- Time zone: times are West Africa Time (WAT).
Time belts are listed under Time Belts Rules on Playlist. Each shows its playlist, times, days and Priority. The belt running now is marked ACTIVE NOW. With no belts, the list says No time belts scheduled. Channel will loop the default playlist.
Add a Time Belt
- In the channel menu, click Playlist.
- Next to Time Belts Rules, click Add Rule. Add Time Belt Rule opens.
- In Assign Rotation Playlist, choose the playlist.
- Set Start Time (24h) and End Time (24h). They can't be the same.
- Under Active Weekdays, click each day the belt runs. Choose at least one.
- Set Priority Rank (Higher priority overrides overlapping times), a whole number from 0.
- Click Schedule Belt. Cecula Stream confirms Time belt created successfully.
Run a Belt Overnight
For a belt that runs past midnight, set an end time earlier than the start time, for example 22:00 to 05:00.
⚠️ Tick the next day too
The days are checked against the current day. After midnight it's the next day, so a belt from 22:00 to 05:00 that only has Mon ticked stops at midnight. To run it through to 05:00 on Tuesday morning, tick Tue as well.
Overlapping Belts
When belts overlap, the one with the higher Priority Rank plays. If their ranks are equal, the belt created most recently plays.
Use overlaps for exceptions. For example, a weekend belt with a higher rank can take over part of an everyday belt.
Edit or Delete a Time Belt
- To edit: click the pencil on the belt, change it in Edit Time Belt Rule, then click Save Rule. Cecula Stream confirms Time belt updated.
- To delete: click the bin on the belt and confirm Remove this time belt rule? Cecula Stream confirms Time belt deleted.
Example Broadcasting Clock
| Playlist | Times | Days | Priority |
|---|---|---|---|
| Morning Devotion | 05:00–09:00 | Every day | 1 |
| Kids Zone | 15:00–18:00 | Mon–Fri | 1 |
| Weekend Specials | 09:00–12:00 | Sat, Sun | 2 |
| Late Night | 22:00–05:00 | Every day | 1 |
| Default Playlist | All other times |
Programs and scheduled broadcasts still take over at their own times, whichever belt is active. See What Airs When.
