How do I Set Live Stream Details?
Live stream details describe what you're broadcasting: a title, location, description and show banner. The Channel API returns them while you're live, and they name the recording of the broadcast.
The watch page doesn't show them. It shows your channel description, or the episode's details during a program episode.
Owners and administrators can change them.
Open Live Stream
In the channel menu, click Live Stream. Live Stream Management opens.
Set the Title, Location and Description
- Under Live Stream Metadata, fill in:
- Live Event Title, for example Sunday Service Live
- Location, for example Uyo, Akwa Ibom
- Description, the details of the broadcast
- Click Save Metadata. Cecula Stream confirms Live stream settings updated!
💡 Update the details before every broadcast
The details stay as they are until you change them, so the next broadcast gets the last one's title unless you update it. Save them before you start your encoder: the Channel API returns them as soon as you go live, and the recording is named when the broadcast starts.
The details are also used for:
- Recording names: a recording is named after the Live Event Title. Without a title, it's named Recording: with the date and time. See How do I Record My Broadcasts?.
- Auto-merge: split recordings are only joined when their title, location and description match. See Auto-merge Split Recordings.
Add a Show Banner
Under Show Banner:
- Upload: click the banner area (Upload Banner, or Change Banner if one is set) and choose an image. Use a 16:9 image of up to 5 MB. It's saved straight away.
- From your library: click Select from Media Library and choose an image under Media Library Images.
- Remove it: click Clear Banner, then confirm.
The Channel API returns the banner as the thumbnail for your live broadcast. It also appears in Settings as the Live Stream Poster, and is used as a recording's thumbnail when no program banner applies.
When a Program Episode Is On Air
If one of your programs has an episode in its broadcast slot right now, an On Air card appears above Live Stream Metadata. It shows the program, the episode's number, name and synopsis, the broadcast window, and what's playing:
| The card says | What's happening |
|---|---|
| Live stream on air | Your live feed is on air for the episode |
| Looping the episode trailer — waiting for the live stream | A live episode's slot has started, but no feed is on air yet, so its trailer plays |
| Showing the "starts soon" card — waiting for your encoder | A live episode's slot has started, with no feed and no trailer |
| Playing the pre-recorded episode | A pre-recorded episode is playing |
| Showing the channel fallback | Nothing else is available to play |
While the episode is on air:
- The episode's details are used, not yours. Viewers, the Channel API and any recording see the program and episode details. The screen says A scheduled episode is on air, so viewers are seeing its programme details instead of these.
- The episode's banner is used. If the episode or program has a banner, Show Banner says Overridden right now by the on-air episode's banner.
- Your details are kept. They apply again when the broadcast window closes.
When no episode is on air but one is coming up, an Up Next card shows the program, episode, date and time instead. See How do I Set Up Programs and Episodes?.
Recent Live Streams
Recent Live Streams lists your channel's last 10 live sessions:
| Column | What it shows |
|---|---|
| Title & Location | The live event title and location at the time |
| Started At | When the session started |
| Ended At | When it ended, or Active / Interrupted if it's still live or ended without closing properly |
| Duration | How long it lasted |
Broadcast Status
Broadcast Status shows the Current State: LIVE while a live feed is on air, and IDLE otherwise.
Who Can Change Live Stream Details
Owners and administrators. Editors and viewers can open Live Stream, but can't save details, change the show banner or change recording. See Roles.
