How do I Upload Media?

Upload videos and images to your Media Library so you can use them on your channel. Videos are processed after they upload, before you can use them.

Before You Upload

  • Check the format and size. Videos can be MP4, MOV, AVI or MKV, and images JPG, JPEG, PNG or WEBP. Each file can be up to 2 GB.
  • Check the resolution. A video smaller than the lowest output resolution your channel broadcasts can't be used. 1920 × 1080 or 1280 × 720 suits most channels.
  • Check your storage. A video needs room for its processed copies as well as the file, which comes to several times its size. If there isn't enough, the video is saved but not processed. See How do I Manage Channel Storage?.

Upload Files

  1. In the channel menu, click Media Library.
  2. Click Upload Media. Upload Files opens.
  3. Drag your files onto Drop files here to upload, or click Select Files and choose them.
  4. Each file shows its progress. Files upload one at a time.
  5. When a file finishes, its details form opens. Enter a Display Name, Description and Location, then click Save & Continue. Or click Skip for now to keep the file's name.

Keep Upload Files open until your uploads finish. If you close it, Cecula Stream asks Cancel Active Uploads?: click Continue to keep uploading, or Stop & Close to cancel them.

If an Upload Is Interrupted

Large files are sent in pieces, so an interrupted upload doesn't have to start again.

  • To carry on: when an upload stops with an error, click Resume. It continues from the last piece that arrived.
  • To give up: click Cancel to remove the file.

Resume only works while Upload Files is still open. If you've closed it or reloaded the page, upload the file again.

After the Upload

When a video finishes uploading, it's processed automatically. Its card shows each stage (QUEUED, CONVERTING, BUILDING PREVIEW and PACKAGING) with a percentage. See How Videos Are Processed.

  • Timing: processing usually takes a few minutes, depending on the file's size. Long recordings can take several hours.
  • Leaving the page: processing carries on if you leave.
  • Other videos: your channel processes one video at a time, so the rest show QUEUED until it's their turn.
  • When it's done: the card shows Ready, and the video can be used in playlists, schedules and elsewhere.
