How do I Run Commercial Breaks?

The commercials reservoir holds the ads and promos ready for your breaks. You can play them in two ways:

  • During a live broadcast: take an ad break from the Overview.
  • Inside a scheduled broadcast: split the broadcast and insert a mid-roll ad.

Build the Reservoir

  1. Upload your ads to the Media Library and wait until they're Ready. See How do I Upload Media?.
  2. In the channel menu, click Commercials. Commercials Reservoir opens.
  3. Click Add to Pool. Add to Reservoir opens.
  4. Search for and choose the ad.
  5. Click Add to Pool. Cecula Stream confirms Video added to commercials pool.

The reservoir lists each ad with its resolution and length:

  • Change the order: use the up and down arrows. You choose the ad each time you run a break, so the order is for your own reference.
  • Remove an ad: click the bin and confirm Remove this media from the commercials pool? The ad stays in your Media Library.

Take an Ad Break During a Live Broadcast

  1. While a live feed is on air, open the Overview and click Take Ad Break.
  2. In Select Commercial, choose the ad.

Things to Know

  • Ready ads only: only videos that are ready and usable on your channel can be added to the reservoir.
  • Ads on the schedule: an inserted ad appears on the Schedule like any other broadcast. Removing it rejoins the two parts of the video.
  • Deleted ads: deleting an ad's video from the Media Library removes it from the reservoir's playable choices and from the schedule.
