How do I Download Media as MP4?
You can download any processed video from your Media Library as an MP4 file, such as a recording of a live broadcast. The MP4 is made when you ask for it, from the same broadcast copy your channel plays.
Before You Download
- The video must be Ready. It has to have finished processing.
- It needs its master copies. If they were deleted to free up space, re-encode the video first. See Re-encode a Clip.
- The channel needs storage. The MP4 is about the size of the video's broadcast copy, and it counts towards your storage until you delete it.
Generate the MP4
- In the Media Library, click the video to open its preview.
- Under Actions, click Generate downloadable MP4.
- While it's being made, the button pulses and says MP4 is being processed... This usually takes a few minutes, and longer for long recordings.
You can close the preview and come back later.
Download the MP4
When the MP4 is ready, the button says Download MP4. Click it to save the file. It's named after the video, for example sunday-service.mp4.
The MP4 stays available, so you can download it again whenever you like.
If the MP4 Won't Generate
If generation fails, the button shows the reason followed by click to retry. Click it to try again.

Remove the MP4
To free the storage the MP4 uses:
- Open the video and click Delete.
- Tick only Downloadable MP4.
- Click Delete selected.
The video itself stays in your library, and you can generate the MP4 again at any time. Re-encoding a video also removes its MP4.
